Supply chains that lack sustainability criteria contribute to the destruction of ecosystems such as deforestation, soil degradation, and unsustainable fishing, among others. For this reason, WWF Peru promotes sustainable production chains that restore nature, guarantee food security, and connect producers with the market under fair and equitable conditions.
In the Amazon, we strengthen Brazil nut, timber, and livestock production chains through best practices that improve the governance of associations and indigenous enterprises. We also promote sustainable fishing by strengthening the governance of fishing associations, the use of technologies for traceability and fishing logs, as well as training in leadership, financial education, and fishing regulations.
In the Pacific seascape, we promote fishery strengthening projects (FIPs) for Mahi Mahi and giant squid. In addition, we use traceability systems such as Trazapp to ensure fair and responsible trade from its capture to the time it is ready to sell.
